"In partnership with PMA Canada and Wray and Nephew of Appleton rum fame, Michael Delevante—the Rum Doctor—will be in Ottawa to present a rare tasting of fine and aged rums to members of the Guild.

Michael, the rum ambassador for Wray and Nephew, has been in the rum business since 1963 in many technical and operational capacities. He is looking forward to walking us though a wide range of rums from their product portfolio, and may even have a surprise or two in store!"

APPLETON ESTATE V/X JAMAICA RUM  - Appleton Tasting Note: "A full-bodied premium aged rum that boasts a warm golden color, rich satisfying aroma and an exceptionally sophisticated flavor. Appleton Estate V/X is a perfect blend of 15 select, varying styles of rums that have been aged in handcrafted oak barrels. The flavor profile makes Appleton Estate V/X great for cocktails.  Featuring a ripe aroma that brims with the scents of orange peel, spices, brown sugar and molasses."

All Appleton Estate aged rums adhere to Scottish-English law, which means that all the rums contained in the blend must reflect, at a minimum, the specific age noted on the bottle. Every drop of Appleton Estate 12 Year Old is aged a minimum of 12 years. This lengthy aging in small oak casks creates a full-bodied sipping rum…comparable to the finest X.O cognacs. Magnificent for sipping neat or with a touch of water.  Dark mahogany hue, bold character and soft elegant flavor of orange peel, vanilla, toasted oak and a hint of almond."
