Suzy Q doughnuts

I have said it before & I will say it again ... I feel like we lucked into our neighbourhood - Hintonburg - when we moved here 13 years ago.  So many things have changed & improved but the charming feel of the 'burg remains.  One of my favourite improvements is the popping up of delicious food hangouts - from doughnuts in old car lots, a small taco booth by the old car lot to quite chi-chi restaurants along Wellington.

I have to rave about Suzy Q doughnuts - a gourmet doughnut shop.  These are gourmet!  With names like ... Maple Bacon, Sugar Munkki, Crumble Berry, Lemon Raspberry White Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Dip with Spicy Dirt, Choco Frito, Caramel de Sel, Caramel Gravel, Choco Dip, Atomic Apple, Toasted Coconut, Blue Van Fruit Loop & Lemon Thyme ... how can you deny their gourmet-ness?!  At very first glance you may think, "$2 for a donut?", but after your first bite you will agree that it is worth every penny.  in fact, you may turn back to buy a Maple Bacon doughnut to share quickly with your 14 year old son before your husband and 10 year old find out.  shhh ... they will never know.

The pics will describe these morsels of yumminess much better than I can ...

Foreign Affairs

Pouring for Cornerstone Estate Winery, I was at the Foreign Affairs & International Trade Canada - 9th Annual Tasting - Canadian Wine Initiative on May 28, 2012.  I was amazed by the variety of still, sparkling & sweet wines as well as beer & spirits. After setting up my table, I quickly made the rounds to take some pics.  I hope you enjoy the wordless tour ...
